Lawyer Suspended for Double-Dipping on CLEs

On September 11, 2023, the Supreme Court for the State of Maine ordered that lawyer Jason R. Buckley be suspended from the practice of law for one year, with none of that period suspended. See Board of Overseers of the Bar v. Jason R. Buckley, Doc. No. BAR-23-9 (Sept. 11, 2023). The respondent submitted materials to the Bar claiming credit for two live webcasts that occurred simultaneously on June 16, 2022. The respondent admitted that he attended both CLEs but used a computer to watch one and the IPAD to watch the other. The respondent claimed that he did not realize that attending multiple CLEs at the same time violated the bar rules. The Maine Supreme Judicial Court ordered that the respondent, who was administratively suspended in 2020, be suspended for a period of one year, with none of that period suspended.
