Louisiana Supreme Court
- Johanna C. Pizzini. The Court granted the joint petition for consent discipline and suspended the respondent for six months, with all but thirty days of the suspension deferred. Prior to the filing of formal charges, the ODC commenced an investigation into allegations that the respondent negligently included surgical estimates for another client along with her settlement demand in a personal injury case without disclosing this fact to the insurance company.
- Jennifer A. Motlow. The Court granted a joint petition for transfer to disability inactive status.
- John Felder Crawford, II. The Court granted a joint petition to permanently resign from the practice of law in lieu of discipline.
- Nicole E. Burdett. The Court granted the petition for reinstatement to the practice of law.
Louisiana Attorney Discipline Board
- Jason Donald Asbill. The board found that the ODC failed to prove violations of the Rules of Professional Conduct and ordered that the formal charges be dismissed.
- Lionel Lon Burns. The board recommended that the respondent be suspended from the practice of law for two years. The respondent failed to properly fulfill his obligations under the Supreme Court Rules to inform his client and opposing counsel of his prior suspension, failed to timely return unearned fees in two client matters, provided a false affidavit to the Court in order to qualify for reinstatement from his prior suspension, continued to receive payments in a legal matter during his prior suspension, and provided a false bill to a client. The respondent also had a prior disciplinary history. In doing so, the respondent violated Rules 1.4(a)(2), 1.4(a)(3), 1.4(a)(4), 1.4(a)(5), 1.5(f)(5), 1.16(d), 3.4(c), 5.5(e)(4), 8.1(a), and 8.4(c).
